THE EDITORIAL LENS
Read beyond the scoreThe Expedition Review Site journal
A number can help you navigate. A summary tells you whether you actually want to make the journey.
Start with the experience
Read the description before looking at the rating. Notice what the game asks you to do and whether that sounds appealing today. A highly rated strategy game can still be the wrong choice when you want something immediate.
Use genre as a signpost
Genre labels are useful shortcuts, but they do not describe every detail. Compare the summaries of two games in the same genre. The differences in focus often tell you more than a decimal point in the score.
Check the official details
Follow the official source for current system requirements, account rules and supported devices. A platform label is a starting point; it cannot guarantee compatibility with a particular computer or phone.
Keep a small shortlist
Save two or three candidates and compare their descriptions. Keep the list short enough to make a decision. Your shortlist belongs to this browser and can be cleared whenever you want.
